The Avengers were on the wrong side of a 3-1 score line today against Atherton town, who put on a resolute defensive display.

We managed to create enough chances today but we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net on the opportunities we did have.

Athy Town has 1 defender at the back who was quicker than everything we had going forward, so I tried to change it up and put Dec up top with his pace but that didn't work either.

I thought we was missing a lot of energy and ball playing in midfield so switched that up 2nd half, and put Jacob in CM, which it worked for midfield but then made us vulnerable at the back.
All in all we just couldn't figure out how to break down the defensive back line today, and also too open and easy to play through defensively.
I take responsibility for the tactics employed today which ultimately didn't work, as the kid at the back was too quick and strong to break down.
However I didn't really see the best of the boys during the game with many hopeless longs balls or sloppy passes losing possession, these are the games we need to be taking points from this season.
